Paseo/Journal Center Windscreen Installation 60″ x 88″
Today workmen installed the completed windscreens on the Paseo/Journal Center Rail Runner passenger platform. This is the effect of the late afternoon sun shining through the etched glass. Via e-mail today I received an invitation for Cathy and I to ride with New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and other dignitaries from the Sandoval County station to the downtown Albuquerque Station “for the culmination of festivities.”
This evening’s paper had a brief article pointing out the Governor is violating a 1911 law prohibiting high ranking government officials from commandeering trains to make special trips. That was a year before New Mexico became a state. At the time the only way to get around the state was on the rail lines or very primitive roads. The answer to the delema was to allow anybody on or off the train.
